We take your security very seriously at Scrap University. Your identity and the replies that you provide to Scrap University are completely confidential. The data that we collect is for our own business use. Any reports that are developed using the data from the surveys will not contain any personally identifiable information and will only report the data in a collective form.

We never release personally identifiable information about our panelists unless the individuals involved expressly agree to such disclosure or it is required by law. In addition, we will not send you unsolicited commercial emails.

We routinely review our privacy policy and security features and enhance them as necessary.

INFORMATION THAT WE GATHER AND TRACK

When members fill out the Scrap University basic questionnaire, we gather contact and demographic information such as email address, age, gender, etc.  We track this information so that we can send you surveys and information regarding our products and services. We also need to know about you so that we can ensure that a broad group of people have been selected for this market research group.

Log Files

As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies on this site. We may use both session ID cookies and/or persistent cookies. Session cookies make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser’s “help” file. If you reject cookies, you may still use our site.

INFORMATION THAT WE USE AND SHARE

The personally identifiable information you provide us is used only when we need to communicate with you. We do not sell or share this information with any other party unless it is required by law. The communications that you will receive from Scrap University will involve:

1.  Invitations to participate in our surveys

2.  Newsletters and updates about our website, products and services

3. Communications related to orders placed through our on-line store. This includes order confirmations, shipping information, back-order announcements, etc.

NOTE TO PARENTS AND MINORS: We do not want to collect any personal information from minors. In fact, we ask that minors do not submit any information about themselves and that they not use this site. Anyone using this site or the services involved warrants and promises that they are 18 years of age or older. However, we may ask panelists about whether or not they have children and the ages of their children.

Members may opt-out of receiving communications from us at any time; please see the Opt-Out Policy section below.

We do not sell or share any information that we collect with any person, agency or group outside of Scrap University. Scrap University will never release your email address or other personally identifiable information to any other person, company or organization without your permission, unless we are required to do so by law.

OPT-OUT POLICY

Instructions on how to unsubscribe from Scrap University are also contained in every email that we send out to you. You can also opt-out by sending an email to customerservice@ScrapUniversity.com or writing to us at the address found under Our Contact Information below.

If you fail to return a survey to us and do not contact us regarding your desire to continue as a panel member, you will automatically be removed as a panel member.

By opting-out of being a panel member, you will not receive any of the free products nor will you receive the appreciation gift that will be sent at the closing of the panel group.

NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES

If we make material changes to this privacy policy that does not affect how we use your personally identifiable information, we will post a prominent notice on our website. That notice will direct you to the page containing the revised policy.

If, however, we propose to use your personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time we collected it from you, we will notify you via email. Our email will instruct you on how to consent or not consent to our proposed use of your information.

SECURITY MEASURES

We take precautions and use modern security technology to protect the personally identifiable information submitted to us. The data we collect is protected through the use of firewalls and passwords, among other things. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we are vigilant in protecting your personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

By signing up for an account at Scrap University, you get access to special areas of the site, downloads, exclusive offers, coupons and more. You will have the ability to upload and share your photos and layouts online, comment and participate in the community, share and teach in the resource center and more. Basic membership to our forum and gallery is absolutely FREE! Paid memberships will have additional access and privileges as stated under the Paid Membership section. All we ask in return is that you follow the Scrap University rules and respect your fellow members. By signing up for an account you agree that you have read and understand the Terms & Conditions (which includes the General Rules), and that you agree to follow all provisions for use contained within. You understand that the rules and terms may be modified from time and such modification shall be deemed binding when posted anywhere on the Scrap University site. You also understand that disciplinary action may be taken against you or your account for rules violations or by failing to abide by the Terms & Conditions.

GENERAL RULES

All disputes between members should be handled by Private Message (PM) or email and not on the Scrap University message boards.

Scrap University reserves the right to display uploaded layouts, tips, posts and other submissions, comments, content and information anywhere on any site owned or operated by Scrap University.

REGISTRATION & MEMBERSHIP

The user name selected must be unique and acceptable to Scrap University and each member may only have one member name.

No user name may contain any store name, trade name, website domain name, or company name.

Anonymous accounts are also prohibited and Scrap University may delete any such account in its sole discretion.

All members agree to keep their password secret as it is the most important security measure on the internet. When other people know it, you are subject to their abusing your registration. You will be held liable for all misuse by others. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the user name and password, and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your user name and password. Scrap University reserves the right to delete or refuse the registration of any account at any time for any or no reason.

LANGUAGE & NATURE OF COMMENTS

We are continually thankful for those who are kind and helpful to other users. In order to provide a friendly and open community, be courteous and do not post defamatory or insulting comments, either directly or indirectly, about any user at Scrap University. (This includes any place on the site, including, but not limited to, forum posts, gallery posts, blogs, and private messages.)

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use the Scrap University Forum to post any material which is false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise objectionable or violates any law.

Defamatory or insulting comments, either directly or indirectly, about Scrap University are prohibited. (This includes posts and Private Messages)

Racial language, hate language, sexually explicit pictures and language, sexually demeaning or discriminatory language, defamatory language, provoking language, or profanity of any kind is prohibited.

Please note that chain letters and pyramid schemes and the solicitation of other members to join or become members of any commercial online service or other organization is also prohibited on Scrap University.

EXTERNAL LINKS & ADVERTISING

We provide a place for scrapbook owners to network together to share their experiences but advertising for those businesses on Scrap University is strictly prohibited.

Posting links to any competing web site is prohibited. This includes online stores or sites of any kind related to scrapbooking and eBay or other auction sites. (Links and content of this nature should only be shared via email or Private Message).

You are allowed to have links to personal web pages as long as it is solely for personal use, is not associated to a competing business and is not hosted on a scrapbook or craft site.

Do not use Scrap University to advertise, sell, or trade products and services without the express written consent of Scrap University.

Names of manufacturers are allowed as long as it relates to specific products and may not reference their retail division, if it exists.

Definition of a Competing Site:

Sells scrapbooking or craft products of any kind (including scrapbook themed gifts and apparel), even if it isn't a product carried here.

Offers scrapbook educational programs such as classes, tutorials, tips, techniques, etc.

Has a scrapbook message board forum, resource area or user gallery.

SIGNATURES, AVATARS & IMAGES

Signatures, private messages, and avatars may not contain advertising information for other scrapbook or craft related sites. Signatures, private messages, and avatars may not contain inappropriate content or profanity.

Signatures, posts, and threads may not contain images of any kind. (Content of this nature should only be shared via email, Private Message, or posted in the Layout Gallery and linked in message text.)

Layouts (scrapbook pages), photos, and layout elements uploaded to the Layout Gallery should not contain profanity, pornography, discriminatory or inappropriate content of any kind.

COPYRIGHT, MATERIALS POSTED & CONTENT

Content uploaded to Scrap University by you may only be of your creation.

Do not post or upload materials whose copyright is owned by someone other than you. Works considered in the public domain may be uploaded.

Do not copy information from Scrap University and use it for publication anywhere, including other websites or print media.

You may not use any of the content on the Scrap University website for commercial purposes without the written consent from Scrap University.

By displaying or posting any information, data, messages, text, graphics, images, photos, video, sounds, profiles, works of authorship, or any other materials (collectively, "Content") on the Scrap University site, you hereby grant to Scrap University, a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, copy, modify (to the extent required for formatting purposes), publicly display, store, reproduce, transmit, and distribute such Content on and through the Scrap University website, including a right to sublicense the Content to Scrap University users to permit them to copy and use the Content for their private, non-commercial use. This license will terminate at the time you remove such Content from the website. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a back-up or residual copy of the Content posted by you may remain on the Scrap University servers after you have removed the Content from the website, and Scrap University retains the rights to hold those copies for its records. Considering the real-time nature of the services at Scrap University, it is not possible for us to immediately review all content, posts and images or confirm the validity of information posted. We do actively monitor some of the contents of posted messages but we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages and images express the views of the author of the message and not necessarily the views of Scrap University or any entity associated with such. Any user who feels that a posted message or image is objectionable, inappropriate or violates these rules is encouraged to contact us immediately by E-mail at help@scrapuniversity.com. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and ban users within a reasonable time frame, if we deem necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

We reserve the right to delete any content, message, or image for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, images, and any other contribution you make to the site or participation in it, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scrap University with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s), images, or other communications or participation, including indemnifying and holding harmless Scrap University from any claims of copyright infringement, including but not limited to actual damages and attorneys fees. We at Scrap University also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message, whether illegal or otherwise, posted by you.

Members who do not comply with the rules as defined above may be banned from Scrap University indefinitely without warning at Scrap University's discretion. When a user is banned, all PM's (private messages) are deleted and will not be forwarded to or from the offending user. In addition, Scrap University will not remove historical posts by banned members unless Scrap University deems appropriate or necessary. Individuals who have been banned may submit a statement to be considered for reinstatement into the Scrap University community. Scrap University reserves the right to change these rules without warning at any time and from time to time.
